Balm in Gilead Foundation for Sustainable Development (BIGIF)

Balm in Gilead Foundation for Sustainable Development (BIGIF) is a Woman-led and Youth-led NGO founded in 2010 with a focus to enhancing sustainable living and promotion of rights for Women, Children, Youths and other vulnerable populations. BIGIF is invested in supporting services for communities and vulnerable groups to advocate for access to rights and opportunities that will ensure sustainable living. BIGIF is registered with the Ministry of Women Affairs-2011, Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) 2013, Economic and Financial Crime Commission-(EFCC-SCUML)- 2014 and Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).

BIGIF envisions a society where there is equal access to sustainable living. BIGIF’s Mission is to support access to sustainable living through advocacy, rights promotion, inclusive social services, empowerment programmes, and resource mobilization. Our thematic areas include: Health Promotion, Educational Support Services, Social Service Delivery, Youth Development, Women Empowerment, Gender Programming, Human Rights Promotion and Advocacy, Research and Capacity Building among others. BIGIF has been in the forefront of promoting sustainable living and advocating rights promotions for women, girls, and the underserved in southwest Nigeria.

BIGIF envisions a society where there is EQUAL ACCESS to sustainable living. At BIGIF, we believe everyone deserves better, equal and easily accessible means to sustainable living that will make them be at their very best and not denied quality livelihood irrespective of your gender, sex, race, age and sexual orientation.

Our networks and partners

BIGIF has over the years partnered with Government and Non-Governmental Organizations in ensuring the implementation of its programs. It has a good working relationship with State Ministry of Health, State Ministry of Women Affairs, State Ministry of Education, International Federation of Women Lawyers- FIDA, the State Universal Basic Education Board, National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), National Orientation Agency (NOA), Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA), Nigeria Prison Service (NPS), Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) and other MDAs.

BIGIF is a member of Association of OVC NGOs in Nigeria (AONN), Association of Civil Society working on Malaria, Immunization and Nutrition (ACOMIN) and Civil Society against HIV/AIDS in Nigeria (CiSHAN). It is well positioned to negotiate for support from state and Local Government Authorities.
